Dr. Ricky Thrasher, Interim Pastor

Dr. Ricky Thrasher has served as Interim Paster of Poplar Springs since December of 2013.  Dr. Thrasher is a Stare Missionary with the Associational Missions Ministry of The Georgia Baptist Convention.  A graduate of Mercer University, he also holds Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  In addition to his position with GBC, Dr. Thrasher has served in a number of pastoral positions and as an Associational Missionary.  He also has filled many pulpits as an Interim Pastor over the last 12 years. Ricky and his wife, Janet, have raised 2 daughters and currently reside in Flowery Branch, Georgia.

Chad Smith, Youth Ministry Director

Chad has been a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church since 1996.  He and his wife, Lynn, have served in the youth department since 1998.  Chad has served as youth director since March 2014.  The mission of our youth department is to see students come to know Jesus and grow closer to Him through a personal relationship.  Chad and Lynn have one son, Elijah.

Pam Emery, Ministry Assistant

Pam Emery has been a member of Poplar Springs since 1994 and on staff as Ministry Assistant since 2002. She is married to Robert who serves as Region Manager of the Central Georgia Region of Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites.  They have raised three boys – Chris, Senior Systems Engineer at MainStreet Technologies in Cornelia, GA, Steven, Interpretive Ranger at Stephen C. Foster State Park in Fargo, GA, and Joseph, Teen Services Librarian at the Hoboken Public Library in Hoboken, NJ.  They also have 2 wonderful “daughters” Trish (wife to son, Chris) & Brandy (wife to son, Steven) and 3 delightful grandsons, Sam, Nathan & Isaac.  In addition to her duties as Ministry Assistant, Pam is a Preschool Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Treasurer and serves on various committees.  In her leisure time, Pam enjoys spending time with her family, camping and the outdoors, crafts, needlework and reading.
